About me

Zulimi.com is design and maintained by zulimi as an online portfolio along with a personal blog. Zulimi is the online name for Nuzul Haqimi Muhammad. I'm a Building Science graduate from Victoria University of Wellington, specialised in Digital Craft and Environmental Science and Technology.

Currently, I am working as a tutor in Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif dan Warisan, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.

I have a passion for web and graphic design. I enjoy learning and designing how to make a good website, both aesthetically and usability. I design website layouts using Illustrator and Photoshop, and then code it using XHTML, CSS and a little Javascript libraries. I also do content management integration. Some of CMS that I usually used are Wordpress, Joomla, Silverstripe and Magento.

Apart from web designing, I, as well, do graphic and logo designing. Illustrator and Photoshop become my favourite tools for playing with graphics. I used to sketch and draw things during my high school. Although not as good as it used to be, I still sketching my ideas first before putting it onto Illustrator and Photoshop. 3D and CAD software also help me to develop my ideas.

This site is for me to showcase my works, experiment with current technologies and share my thoughts online. Belows are the things that I do.

Front-end Development

I usually use Illustrator and Photoshop for mockups and translate them into codes to be displayed in browsers. For me a website should be clean and simple enough to allow user to appreciate both the function and the aesthetic of the website that they visited.

XHTML/CSS/Javascript

XHTML, CSS and Javascript are the languages that I am familiar with in order to make website function properly in web browsers. I would say that XHTML and CSS is the main language that I would easily remember and use to codes websites. Each of the coding used would be check use W3C validation tool to make sure it would follow the standards and properly displayed in most internet browsers. I used Javascript library and I know the basic of Javascript and how it operates. I can code websites from the layout given from Illustrator and Photoshop files. I also know how to use Dreamweaver although i would prefer to code my website using text editor.

Content Management Integration

I use Content Management System for easy website maintenance. I can set it up, customise and integrate the website design with open source CMS. Open Source CMS that I usually use are Wordpress, Joomla, Silverstripe and Magento. Each has different features that are suitable depending on the websites that would be developed.

Drafting, 3D Modelling and Rendering

I learned and used CAD software (AutoCAD and Revit) in modelling and analysing buildings at the university. I also know how to use 3ds max for modelling and rendering. This helps me develop my design further.

Graphic and Logo Design

Illustrator and Photoshop help in developing my design ideas and present it in digital format.
